Country Insights: Exploring Communications in Egypt

Home to almost 100 million people, most of whom are under the age of 25, Egypt isn’t just the birthplace of civilization. The country has a thriving communications industry, with dozens of home-grown agencies competing against multinational brands. Given Egypt’s recent history, there’s a growing awareness of the importance of communications and public relations, both to domestic and international audiences.
As part of our Country Insights series of webinars, this October we will be heading to Egypt. One of the industry’s leading practitioners on the agency side, Mai Abaza, will talk us through how the comms sector is developing, and what we can expect to see from the country’s agencies and brands.

Mai’s expertise spans government, technology telecom, consumer, healthcare and many other industries, providing strategic communications consulting, media outreach strategies and consumer marketing.
Since 2011, Mai has grown the company from three to 16 people today, with a client portfolio that includes the likes of P&G, OLX, UBER, Sony Mobile, Med-El, L’Oreal, Coca Cola, Ted Baker, RiseUp, Temenos, and many other local, regional and international organisations.
From 2010 to 2011 Mai played the lead role in managing Egypt’s General Authority for Investment (GAFI) global communication campaign in ten countries around Europe, the Middle East and Asia Following the January 25th revolution, Mai continued to consult with GAFI on crisis management and investor communications strategies.
