Mike Pounsford – President
Mike first joined IABC 30 years ago and has been a member on and off since. He acted as Head of Development in the UK from 2011 – 2013 and took up the President-Elect role in 2016 in preparation for this year’s role. Since 2001 he has run his own consulting business, Couravel (a double Gold Quill winner), which helps clients develop processes to engage people around vision, values and strategy to create ownership and deliver organisational change.
Howard Krais – President Elect
With nearly 25 years as a communicator under his belt, both in senior in house roles and consulting, Howard is as passionate about finding brilliant opportunities for communicators to develop and grow as he is about the power of great communications to positively impact change. Now in his third year in a senior internal communications role at healthcare company GSK, Howard manages a global team of communicators charged with helping to evolve GSK’s culture. 2016/17 will be his second year as a Board Member of the IABC UK chapter.
Lauren Brown – Treasurer
Lauren Brown is a communications manager with solid background in business and finance. She currently works with Fieldwork Education developing international marketing campaigns and leading on key projects. She has been involved with IABC for the past five years in both Canada and the UK.
Kira Scharwey – Past President
KIra is a communications consultant with Madano, specialising in public affairs andcorporate communications for clients in the energy and environment sector. She has spent seven years as a Board member for IABC chapters in Canada and the UK, including her term as President of IABC UK in 2016/17.
Suzanne Brooks – Corporate Membership Director
Suzanne has more than 10 years’ experience in corporate communication roles in high profile FTSE-20 companies spanning FMCG (Diageo), natural resources (Rio Tinto, ICMM) and financial services (Old Mutual). She is seasoned in running global internal and external communications and reputation-building campaigns and working across emerging and developed markets. She specializes in employee engagement and corporate relations with deep expertise in multi-stakeholder partnership programmes, corporate reputation strategy, financial communications, compliance communications and sustainable development.
Anne McCormack – Events Director
Anne has recently joined William Hill, the home of betting, as Group Head of Internal Communication where she’ll be using her experience of behavioural and culture change, business transformation, and leadership communication to help the company achieve its vision of being ‘the brand in everyone’s hands’. Anne previously worked with Shell and Anglo American, a global mining company, professionalise safety and sustainable development communication,
Claudia d’Amato is a highly experienced corporate communications professional, with more than 18 years of experience in multicultural business environments, developing and implementing integrated communication strategies to deliver business outcomes, both in-house and in agencies. Her career spanned a variety of industries and activities in PR, corporate and internal communications in Brazil, UK and across geographies.
Miguel Cortez is currently a full time postgraduate student completing his Masters’ Degree in Public Relations at the London College of Communication. His professional experience includes having fulfilled roles relevant to Customer Relationship Management with the Philippines’ largest pharmaceutical company (United Laboratories, Inc.), and one of the Philippines’ most well-respected, internationally accredited, private hospitals (St. Luke’s Medical Center), among others.
Una O’Sullivan – Communications Director
Una leads the Internal Communications program for Global Financial Services at KPMG, with an emphasis on strategic leadership messaging. Her focus is on using strategy to shape an overarching narrative and emphasizing the message through frequent and compelling story-telling. Her soapbox position is that internal communications does not equate to newsletters, and that any communications campaign needs to use a variety of channels, with an emphasis on conversations.

Kirsty has over 20 years’ experience of running senior level events across a wide variety of business sectors.
Specialising in B2B conferences and networking events, Kirsty’s expertise covers the full range of event management elements, from conception to execution. Kirsty’s efficiency, attention to detail and calm approach ensures every conference is delivered to the highest possible standard.
Gay is a digital content executive and former journalist with more than 20 years’ experience as a programme editor and manager at Channel 4 News, Channel 5 News, the BBC and the ABC in the UK and Australia. Recently relocated back to the UK from Sydney, Gay now runs global content marketing agency Formative Content. Amongst her current content clients are the World Economic Forum, Fund Forum International and the Global Education & Skills Forum.
Casilda Malagon is a global communicator with a background in international policy communications and a passion to building teams that make a difference. She recently joined global mining company, Anglo American. An IABC member since 2009, she has been part of the UK Board for the last three years and is currently President-Elect of IABC’s UK Chapter.
Daniel Schraibman has extensive experience of helping organisations manage
change, prepare for and deal with crises and build better relationships with
stakeholders. He is a director of Serekinti, and his last in-house role was Head of Communications for South Hook Gas, Europe’s largest importer of liquefied natural gas. Daniel has been a member of the IABC UK board for the last three years and has expanded the reach of the chapter thanks to events in Bath and Leeds, and the development of a partnership with the University of Leeds.
