Sarah Harrison | President
Sarah Harrison has spent more than 20 years working communications and employee engagement consultancies. She is now an executive coach and director at Futurum Group.

She believes corporate communications can make or break audience engagement and that an organisation’s success relies on the effectivenes of its communications. 

The UK and Ireland Chapter aims to support the IABC’s global pillars of: Advancing the profession, creating strategic communicators and creating connection; by continuing to produce excellent events, collaborating on research and exploring and connecting with the IABC’s global network of experts.

Laura Desert | President-elect
Following an educational background in Linguistics, Business and Communications, Laura is building a career in Internal Communications with a particular focus on Corporate Sustainability, Diversity & Inclusion and Employee Engagement.

Laura leads the Internal Communications function at CityFibre, the UK’s largest alternative provider of wholesale fibre network infrastructure, and has been an IABC member for 3 years. She enjoys communicating with audiences in the technology space, and in her spare time advocates for women in STEM.

Howard Krais | Past President 

With over 25 years as a communicator under his belt, both in senior in house roles and consulting, Howard is as passionate about finding brilliant opportunities for communicators to develop and grow as he is about the power of great communications and engagement to positively impact change. Howard leads communications for the largest sector at FTSE100 company Johnson Matthey.

Following the last two years where Howard has been President of IABC’s UK & Ireland chapter, he looks forward to supporting Sarah and the Board as they build on the momentum that the Chapter has achieved over the past few years.

Georgia Eather | Treasurer
With a background in Journalism, Georgia is a Marketing and PR professional, specialising in digital and social media. Previously working in agencies, she has experience across multiple industries such as sport, lifestyle, property, pharmaceutical and consumer, and is now in an in-house B2B role. Holding a Master’s of Business, Georgia is passionate about reputation management and community management. Since joining the IABC Board she has reinvigorated and brilliantly managed our social media channels.

Mike Pounsford

Mike first joined IABC 30 years ago and has been a member on and off since. He acted as Head of Development in the UK from 2011–2013 and was the President from 2017-2018. 

Since 2001 he has run his own consulting business, Couravel (a double Gold Quill winner), which works for clients in the private, public and third sectors.  He designs 

and facilitates conversations for change and specialises in processes to engage people around vision, values and strategy to create ownership and deliver organisational change.

Rachel Tolhurst
Rachel Tolhurst is Head of Corporate Communications at Amey Plc, a B2B infrastructure services company. Rachel is responsible for internal communications, brand, creative, digital and social media; including Amey’s employee engagement survey. She has over 20 years’ communications experience and is passionate about the value of data to drive insight and action.

Simon Monger, SCMP®

Simon Monger is an internal communications, change and engagement consultant, with thirteen years’ experience working with large global and multinational organisations in the public, private, legal and professional services sectors. Simon’s broad range of experience working with organisations including E.ON UK, Transport for London, Deloitte and IKEA has seen him provide strategic communications support for multiple office moves, diversity and inclusion strategies, regulatory changes, business transformations, and even managing the transport challenge of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Simon is joining the IABC UK & Ireland Board to help us shape and refine our offering and ensure we continue to stand out in the market.

Victoria Silverman
Victoria Silverman is a highly-experienced and multi award-winning senior communications professional with a background in complex global organisations.

A former journalist, her career in communications started at ITV from where she went on to create an internal news service, which led to marcomms and business strategy roles at Deloitte and Thomson Reuters. Victoria straddles both internal and external social media, thought leadership and communication, providing CEO, business and leadership support at Refinitiv.  (A $6bn fintech, Refinitiv span out of Thomson Reuters in October 2019 and is now under acquisition by the London Stock Exchange Group.)

As director of innovation enablement at Thomson Reuters Victoria explored emerging tech and what it takes to build a company culture capable of attracting diverse talent. In her spare time she runs an online community for the parents of teenagers; and in non-lock down mode is a willing cab driver to her sons Max and Jack.

Georgia Halston
Georgia is the Founder and Director of Halston Marketing. She’s been working within the marketing sector for over nine years specialising in digital. Coming from an SEO background, Georgia’s skillset spans all facets of digital marketing.

Working out of their North Leeds office, Halston Marketing have launched projects with clients of varying sizes from start-ups to Fortune 500s. The clientele work within vastly differing industries from pharmaceuticals and industrial coatings to IoT and online ecommerce. 

Georgia is interested in leveraging her network to build IABC visibility and impact in the North, in particular in Leeds building on the excellent work already started with students at Leeds University.

Rachael Pearson
Rachael is an experienced communicator and copywriter who’s worked both agency and client-side to help brands share their stories. Working with big names including Morrisons, Lloyds Banking Group, Primark and Hermes, she’s supported them to develop strategies to reach and engage diverse audiences. 

As a trained journalist, Rachael loves getting to the heart of a story and thinking of interesting ways to share it. She recently set up her own copywriting and consulting business, with a mission to harness the power of words and solve communication challenges, delivering real results for her clients.

Emma Hanley

Emma is a Marketing Manager at Teamwork, a B2B SaaS company whose products work together beautifully to support teams with improved collaboration, seamless communication, and faster project delivery. Emma previously worked as the Product Marketing Manager at Poppulo. She has recently joined the UK & Ireland Board, but is an active member of the IABC EMENA Board since 2018 and was a member of the Program Advisory Committee for the IABC World Conference 2020.

Emma is passionate about good communication, with keen interest in Marketing, Internal communication, and Employee Engagement.

Una O’Sullivan 
Una is the Communications Director for Global Financial Services at KPMG, focusing on strategic leadership messaging.  She works with senior leaders, developing communications strategiesthat shape overarching narratives,and delivering proof points through frequent and compelling story-telling. Her soapbox position is that internal communications does not equate to newsletters, and that any communications campaign needs to use a variety of channels, with an emphasis on conversations. 

Before taking this role, Una worked in Knowledge Management, supporting global communities of interest with content strategies, intranets, research services and facilitated knowledge exchanges.

In her spare time she is a sea swimmer and plays piano (not at the same time), and is a leader with Scouting Ireland.

Annette O’Herlihy
Annette O’Herlihy is Communications Program Manager for the Customer Solution Centers at Dell Technologies, an international team spread across 19 global locations. Core to this role is developing innovative ways to articulate the story of the expertise and value-add of the team, and enabling team members to tell their stories. 

During her 20-year career in the technology industry, Annette has worked in technical communications, project and program management, as well as internal communications. 

Annette holds a BA in English and Applied Psychology, an MA in Early Medieval Monastic Culture, a Graduate Diploma in Software Localisation, and recently completed an MA in Work and Organisational Behaviour. 

Annette lives in Cork, Ireland with her husband and two young sons. During rare spells of spare time, she loves to dive into the world of a good sci fi novel.

Diana Boca
Diana is excited to join and contribute as part of the IABC Board. 

As a graduate she strongly believes social psychology and public relations go hand in hand, after all, public relations is all about earned endorsements. She is looking to work in the PR industry to be able to deal with reputation management and CSR campaigns. Her background as an academic debater makes her persuasive and good at reading people!

She is a dynamic person that loves to be part of a team and does everything with a purpose. She originally comes from Romania and considers herself lucky to have such a wide international network of people that her parents or grandparents never even thought possible.
